lune de sang

The term "blood moon" may sound ominous and perhaps a little sinister, but that is far from what it means. While some people see it as a bad omen, others take advantage of the powerful energy that this moon offers.

Blood moons are rare. That said, it's important to use this time wisely and set your intentions before it happens. Today we delve into the spiritual meaning of a blood moon and discuss how you can make the most of the powerful, transformative power it offers.

What is a blood moon?

Most people are used to seeing the moon glowing pure white at night. This is why seeing a red moon can be an unsettling sight for many. A “blood moon” is an informal term for a total lunar eclipse.

What is a Blood Moon

At certain points in its orbit, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon. Meanwhile, the light from the Sun that usually illuminates the Moon is blocked by the Earth. The shadow it casts gives the Moon a reddish tint, hence the nickname blood moon.

Sometimes years go by without a blood moon occurring, so the phenomenon is far from common. Fortunately, these special occasions are usually talked about in the media before they arrive, so you'll likely have time to prepare if you want to observe one. The last blood moon was visible in November 2022, and we won't get to see another one until March 2025.

No blood moon in 2024

The next blood moon will not occur until 2025, on March 14. Another will take place in 2025, on September 7, but it will not be visible on the American continent.

In 2026, there will be another, on March 3. The next one will take place on New Year's Eve (December 31) 2028. It will be a memorable event.

Blood moons explained

The moon does not have its own light source. It shines thanks to the reflection of the sun on it. However, during a total lunar eclipse, the moon is hidden from the sun and the only light it reflects is that coming from the edges of the earth.

Air molecules in Earth's atmosphere dissipate blue light. In other words, light waves are stretched, giving them a red color. The remaining light molecules reflect off the surface of the moon, giving it a red glow and that is why it appears red or reddish during a lunar eclipse.

The Moon can sometimes appear even more reddish if the concentration of haze, dust or smoke in the sky is higher.

Although the blood moon has no astronomical significance, the hue of the moon as it is perceived by man always depends on factors such as:

  • The level of pollution at a given location,
  • Cloud cover,
  • Debris.

Interesting Facts About Blood Moons

  • Although a total lunar eclipse occurs two or three times a year, it is rare to see a blood moon, as it depends on various geographical conditions, as noted above, as well as the place.
  • The blood moon that occurred on May 16, 2022 was also known as the "super moon", with the longest period of totality in prime time and half of the world's population was able to see it.
  • The year 2022 saw the most unusual pair of lunar eclipses in 430 years.
  • Studies show that the total lunar eclipse of June 26, 2029 may just exceed the duration of this year's eclipses with a totality of 102 minutes.

Spiritual Meaning and Interpretation of the Blood Moon

While some people believe that a blood moon is a warning of trouble to come, others believe that it is a period of evolution and of self-discovery. In fact, the spiritual meaning of the blood moon is a time of rebirth. Too often, humans are reluctant to face the negative emotions that reside within them. This moon gives you the opportunity to delve into these aspects of yourself. It allows you to confront potential feelings of anger, envy, despair and sadness.

< br>By shedding light on the darkness, you can face it, overcome it, and transform yourself in the process. Harboring these negative feelings is a common human experience and exploring one's "dark side" is a worthwhile endeavor. While most people choose to ignore these feelings, you can consciously choose to let go of them and become free.

According to the Mesopotamians and the Incas, the blood moon symbolizes the death and fall of the king. However, a few Native American tribes believe that the moon turns red when deprived of love and attention. Therefore, a blood moon means that the moon is in need of affection.

< br>Some cultures believe that the blood moon means that it is time to explore our dark side and delve deeper into the emotions hidden in our subconscious, like rage and grief. A blood moon symbolizes the time to let go and heal.

The Bible also contains interesting verses about the blood moon, where the prophets predicted that the moon would turn into blood.

Final thoughts

Although blood moons only occur every two years, it's not the only time you can start working on shadows. The most important thing is to take the time to reflect and set goals for the future.

< The powerful transformative power of blood moons can definitely help you achieve your desires, but that doesn't mean you can't start making positive changes any other day of the year. Let the blood moon remind you that you are capable of alchemizing your negative aspects into positive aspects whenever you are ready.
